AUS-8 Stainless Steel
Introduction of AUS-8 | Molybdenum Vanadium Stainless Steel:
AUS-8 is a Japanese stainless steel produced by Aichi Steel, widely used in kitchen knives and other tools due to its balanced properties of sharpness, toughness, and corrosion resistance. It contains 0.70-0.75% carbon, 13-14.5% chromium, 0.10-0.30% molybdenum, and 0.10-0.25% vanadium, which improve the overall performance of the steel.
• Molybdenum enhances corrosion resistance, making AUS-8 suitable for kitchen environments.
• Vanadium increases hardness and wear resistance, improving durability and edge retention.
Key Features:
• Hardness: AUS-8 typically has a Rockwell hardness of HRC 58-60, providing a good balance between edge retention and ease of sharpening.
• Sharpness: AUS-8 can be honed to a very fine edge, holding sharpness well in day-to-day use.
• Corrosion Resistance: Due to its chromium and molybdenum content, AUS-8 offers excellent rust resistance, making it ideal for frequent kitchen use.
• Toughness: The vanadium content provides toughness, reducing the risk of chipping and making it more durable under regular use.
