This series stands out due to the intricate Hon Kasumi knife-making process, which involves additional steps during the forging, quenching, sharpening, and finishing stages, requiring superior craftsmanship. Each KS Series knife is hand sharpened, polished, and finished by skilled craftsmen, ensuring exceptional edge sharpness and a refined finish.

At the core of the Masamoto KS Series knives lies the use of Hitachi White Steel No.2 (HRc. 62-63), forge-welded with soft iron. This steel is renowned for its purity and ability to achieve high hardness without becoming brittle, perfect for crafting sharp edges with excellent edge retention and ease of sharpening.
